The Boeing Test and Evaluation Team in the United Kingdom covers Maintenance Test Flying, Experimental Test Flying and Instructional activity.
BT&E UK requires a full-time Chinook Flight Engineer (Loadmaster) for flight operations as part of Boeing’s UK Chinook programme and as a flexible team member across the Boeing Test & Evaluation portfolio. Part-time employment could also be negotiated for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
1. Delivery flying, systems testing, training, support to test flying and functional test flights on production and non-production aircraft
2. Make preflight, in-flight and post-flight inspections to ensure safe and efficient operation of aircraft
3. Perform duties as an air crew member
4. Require Flight Engineer/Crewman qualification and pass a CAA Class 1 medical
5. Coordinate aircraft schedules with Flight Operations Manager, allocate qualified flight crew, monitor schedule changes and notify crew
6. Plan and attend/facilitate meetings to communicate preflight requirements
7. Demonstrate aircraft features for customer evaluation
8. Represent Boeing Flight Operations at various locations
9. Provide aircrew advice to the Boeing Design Team and assist with product development
10. Support Boeing Flight Operations globally as needed
11. Support customer meetings
12. Participate in programme planning and safety activities
13. Identify risks, issues, opportunities; develop mitigation plans
14. Support safety process development and maintenance
15. Plan and conduct maintenance, production and acceptance test flights
16. Document flight deficiencies and coordinate resolution
17. Ensure design integrity and recommend operational changes
18. Review service issues and customer feedback to improve procedures
Qualifications and Experience
1. Knowledge of general aviation principles and UK flying experience
2. Ability to pass UK CAA Class 1 and military medical
3. Decisiveness in safety-critical situations
4. Diplomatic yet strong-minded, with UK MoD and Boeing interface experience
5. Chinook Loadmaster Brevet/Qualification (essential)
6. UK military CFS instructional qualification (desirable)
7. Technical knowledge of Chinook helicopter and other rotary/fixed-wing aircraft
8. Ability to improve strategies, processes, and coordinate with teams
