About the role
Are you looking for an exciting new challenge? We are seeking enthusiastic, a compassionate and hardworking individual who are keen to make a real difference to patient care by joining our dynamic Inpatient Therapy Team.
We are pleased to offer a parttime opportunity for a Band 3 Generic Technical Instructor within Inpatient Therapy Team 4 (Stroke and Neurology).
As a valued member of our team, you will support therapists in the assessment and treatment of inpatients referred to Mid Yorkshire Therapy Services. Working under guidance, you will carry out delegated therapy tasks including (but not limited to):
* Mobility practice and exercise programmes
* Washing and dressing reviews
* Supporting therapy staff on patient visits
* Daytoday administrative tasks that assist with safe and timely patient discharge

Main duties
What you’ll do
* Support therapists in delivering rehabilitation programmes and therapeutic activities.
* Engage patients in exercises and mobility practice, demonstrating and adjusting mobility aids and specialist equipment.
* Contribute to assessments, provide feedback on patient progress and adapt interventions based on changing needs.
* Plan and manage your own delegated caseload, working independently and as part of the team.
* Carry out home visits to deliver equipment, review adaptations and assess functional needs.
* Ensure all equipment is safe, clean and maintained; follow manual handling, infection control and loneworking procedures.
* Assist with group sessions, individual rehab programmes and nutrition/hydration support where required.
* Identify and escalate changes in condition, risks or safeguarding concerns.
* Complete administrative tasks such as stock control, note retrieval, appointment organisation and basic documentation.

Essential person specification requirements
* GCSE in maths and English grades A-C or equivalent relevant experience
* NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent level qualification
* Experience of working as a support worker within a health care setting
* Experience of working as part of a team
* Awareness of the impact of health and disability on lifestyle
* Awareness of health and social care systems
* Awareness of Stroke and Neurological conditions and the impact these have on function
* Awareness of how communication can be adapted to respond to a variety of clinical situations
* Awareness of the role of an Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist in health care
* Knowledge of health and safety issues within the work place and how risk can be managed
* Able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
* Able to work independently under direction and follow through agreed plans
* Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
* Ability to participate and complete competency and training frameworks relevant to post
* Commitment to providing a quality service and participating in personal and service development in line with Trust values and behaviours
* Ability to carry out moderate physical effort throughout the day and carry out concurrent activities
* Motivation to learn and develop
* Ability to demonstrate a flexible approach to working practice and changing situations
* Ability to work alone and seek help when required
* Experience of using information technology
