The Communications department sits at the core of the FCA’s voice – shaping what we say, how we say it, and why it matters. We set the strategic direction for all external communications, ensuring every message is clear, concise, and compelling.
This role is part of the Strategic Communications & News team. We work closely with strategic partners and teams across the business to create high-impact content – from website copy and corporate publications to op-eds, blogs, and speeches – that drives our messages home.
What will you be doing?
* Collaborate with members of the FCA’s Executive Committee to craft clear, impactful speeches that support and advance the FCA’s strategic objectives.
* Build strong relationships across the wider FCA and within the Communications department to gather insights, shape content, and ensure a smooth, efficient speechwriting process that delivers maximum impact.
* Proactively generate ideas and develop a deep understanding of relevant subject areas to create compelling narratives and persuasive arguments.
* Take ownership of individual projects, ensuring high-quality content that engages audiences and aligns with the FCA’s goals.
* Work closely with communications and media teams to coordinate messaging and oversee the publication and dissemination of speeches across appropriate channels.
What will you get from the role?
This is a unique opportunity to write for the FCA’s most senior leaders – crafting high-profile speeches that influence the public conversation and help deliver real impact across the financial sector.
You'll shape the tone, content, and messaging of these speeches—bringing your creativity, strategic thinking, and storytelling skills to the heart of the FCA’s external voice.
As a key member of the Strategic Communications & News team, you’ll work alongside talented colleagues across the Communications Directorate, gaining insight into the FCA’s priorities and helping to bring them to life through powerful, purpose-driven content.
If you're passionate about writing with purpose, influencing change, and working at the centre of strategic communications, this is your chance to make your mark.
