We are seeking an experienced Cloud Director to lead and evolve our enterprise cloud strategy across three core domains: Cost Management, Governance, and Transformation.
Reporting to the CTO, this is a senior leadership position responsible for ensuring cloud services are commercially optimised, securely governed, and strategically aligned with wider business objectives.
This role requires a combination of executive-level communication capability, strong financial and analytical acumen, and deep technical understanding of modern cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain a standardised cloud service catalogue across the organisation
* Lead cloud cost optimisation initiatives, ensuring efficient use of resources
* Implement and oversee showback/chargeback models
* Design and maintain BI dashboards to monitor spend, trends, and optimisation opportunities
* Partner with business units to right-size workloads and improve cost transparency
* Deliver measurable cost efficiencies and performance improvements
Cloud Governance & Standards
* Define and implement cloud governance frameworks and architectural standards
* Establish operational guardrails across public, private, and hybrid environments
* Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements
* Introduce and standardise tooling for Infrastructure as Code (IaC), orchestration, and automation
* Maintain documentation, policies, and operational guidelines
Cloud Transformation & Strategy
* Lead cloud migration and modernisation programmes
* Collaborate with senior stakeholders to align cloud initiatives with business strategy
* Present strategic roadmaps, risks, and investment proposals at executive level
* Identify opportunities for innovation, automation, scalability, and resilience improvements
Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
* Direct management responsibility for cloud personnel (initially 1 FTE)
* Foster a high-performance, accountable team culture
* Engage confidently with C-level stakeholders and senior leadership
* Translate complex technical topics into commercially relevant insights
* Support strategic decision-making through clear, structured communication
Required Experience & Skills
* 7+ years’ experience in cloud architecture, engineering, or leadership roles
* Strong experience across AWS and/or Azure (multi-cloud environments advantageous)
* Demonstrable experience in cloud financial management (FinOps)
* Experience implementing governance frameworks in enterprise environments
* Proven track record of leading transformation or migration initiatives
* Budget ownership and cost optimisation experience with measurable outcomes
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level presentation experience

You will be commercially aware, comfortable influencing senior stakeholders, and able to demonstrate tangible impact in previous roles — particularly in areas such as cost optimisation, governance implementation, and organisational transformation.
You will have experience leading teams, managing performance, and driving accountability in cloud operations.
