EduTalent Group is proud to be hiring for a number of dynamic and compassionate Teaching Assistants to support learners with special educational needs (SEN) in an inclusive and supportive setting in West Sussex. You will assist Class and Subject Teachers in delivering effective, creative, and responsive lessons tailored to the needs of young people with emotional, behavioural, social, and communication difficulties. Your support will help promote a safe, engaging, and therapeutic learning environment where each pupil can thrive both socially and academically. Key Responsibilities: Assist in classroom teaching and learning, adapting to the needs of individual pupils Support the behaviour management strategies set by teaching staff Supervise and engage with students during lessons, breaks, and lunchtimes Provide 1:1 support or small group interventions as directed by the teacher Help maintain a clean, safe, and stimulating classroom environment Escort and support students during off-site activities, including driving the school van or personal vehicle if needed Contribute to lesson preparation and manage classroom-related paperwork Communicate with staff and management to support school culture and uphold school policies Be proactive in professional development, including mandatory training Model and promote respectful, caring relationships within the school community Requirements Essential: Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or working towards certification GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths Full, current driving licence Experience working with children or young people with emotional, behavioural, or social communication needs Strong literacy and numeracy skills Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues Good IT skills Understanding of the challenges and needs of SEN learners Motivation to support and care for children and young people Emotional resilience and ability to manage challenging behaviours Positive, authoritative presence with clear personal boundaries Desirable: Degree or equivalent higher education qualification Experience in a teaching assistant or education support role Skills in games, sports, or creative physical engagement Experience driving a school van or transporting students Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Term-time only position Small class sizes with strong staff-to-student ratios 6 annual seminar (inset) days for training and reflection Inclusive, supportive team environment Real impact on young learners’ lives and well-being Opportunities to contribute to an innovative SEN provision
