The Opportunity
Based in any of our UK offices, you will work on diverse projects such as Coire Glas in Scotland, Koysha in Ethiopia, and Dinorwig in Wales. You will also support UK water companies with inspections, remediation, and the development of new dams and reservoirs. Stantec is a leading, progressive consultancy focused on delivering high‑quality outputs that achieve client outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with project managers, technical leaders, design engineers, and clients to achieve positive project outcomes.
* Engage in traditional advisory roles, Owner’s Engineer duties, client‑facing concept design, contractor‑facing detailed design, remediation, troubleshooting, installation support, and lender’s engineer/insurance/due diligence support.
About You
You are a Senior Principal Civil Engineer who is ideally Chartered or Incorporated with the ICE or working towards this, with experience in the civil design of at least one of the following:
* Dams (or dam components)
* Hydro and/or pumped storage hydro schemes
* Complex hydraulic structures (channels, culverts, bridges, spillways, stilling basin)
Ideally you will demonstrate significant civil engineering experience in the dams and hydro sector or aligned water and energy sector experience. You will have a good understanding of integrated solutions, produce technical specifications, designs, and reports, and work closely with associated disciplines. You should be comfortable working within a full 3D environment and a common data environment.
