We are seeking a dedicated Attendance & Family Support Officer to support a network of local secondary schools and academy trusts across Blackpool and Lancashire for the full 2026/2027 academic year. The Role & Your Impact Persistent absence is a major barrier to pupil progress. In this role, you will be the friendly face and vital link between the school, the home, and local authority welfare services, identifying the "why" behind student absence and proactively mitigating it. Key Responsibilities: Family Intervention: Conduct supportive home visits to engage directly with parents, building trust to address persistent absence and lateness. Removing Barriers: Develop targeted action plans with families to ensure children get into school consistently, safely, and on time. Data Monitoring: Work alongside Pastoral Leads and SENDCOs to track, analyse, and report on daily and weekly cohort attendance data. Compliance & Referrals: Handle the administrative precision required for legal frameworks, including processing referrals for Fixed Penalty Notices or working with Education Welfare Officers (EWOs) where necessary. Candidate Requirements (Google Job Criteria) To be successful in this role, you must be skilled at managing complex group and family dynamics while maintaining an approachable, non-judgemental manner. Experience: Minimum 1-2 years working within an educational setting, social work capacity, youth service, or family outreach role. Skills: High emotional intelligence, active listening, conflict resolution, and the resilience to handle difficult situations professionally. Technical Skills: Proficient in standard ICT systems and school management data software (such as SIMS, Bromcom, or Arbor) for tracking trends. Logistics: A full clean UK driving license and access to a vehicle is essential, as this role involves local community travel and home visits. Compliance: Must hold or be willing to process an Enhanced DBS disclosure on the Update Service. Benefits & Work Hours Hours: Monday to Friday, approx. 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (37 hours per week, Term-time only). Pay Model: Competitive daily rates under a strict, ethical PAYE payment structure (no hidden umbrella fees). Continuity: Long-term academic year contract running from September 2026 through to July 2027. Development: Access to collaborative training and up-to-date safeguarding practices within leading Lancashire academy trusts.
