Overview
WSP is one of the UK’s largest land services consultancies. This role offers the chance to lead land referencing, acquisition, valuation and compensation across major infrastructure projects in the UK and Ireland. The position can be based in any of our UK offices with hybrid working flexibility.
Responsibilities
* Provide technical and business development leadership across all projects.
* Lead the development and delivery of the Land business strategy and action plans.
* Offer strategic consultancy advice and be a trusted partner for statutory processes.
* Manage and lead project teams and deliver technical project work including land rights, consent documents and negotiations.
* Advise clients on statutory powers, acquisition strategies and land assembly projects.
* Manage day‑to‑day project teams, engagement and quality outputs.
* Secure team workload, resource allocation and budgeted productivity targets.
* Mentor and develop team members through training and professional development.
Qualifications
* Experience in Transport, Energy and Water infrastructure development sectors.
* Experience in compulsory acquisition projects using CPO/DCO/TWAO powers.
* Proven track record in managing and delivering land‑related services and leading teams.
* Demonstrated experience of reducing land risk and advising clients throughout project lifecycle.
* Strong influencing, negotiation and communication skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and relationship building at all levels.
* Experience in training and mentoring team members.
* Knowledge of the legal process for acquisition of property and rights.
* Experience in managing and settling voluntary and compulsory purchase compensation claims.
* Knowledge of urban and rural environments desirable.
* Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
