We are excited to offer an opportunity to join the Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialist Team at Colchester Hospital in our Acute Haematology service. This post is covering maternity leave until 6th December 2026, part time 30 hours per week.

We would consider Band 6 developmental roles. Internal applicants currently employed by ESNEFT will be offered on a secondment basis only. Please ensure you have discussed this with your line manager.
Responsibilities
* Provide a comprehensive service for patients with acute and chronic malignant haematological disorders and non-malignant haematological disorders. Deliver expert care, advice and support to patients receiving treatment on an in-patient and out-patient basis and to their families, and act as a resource to other staff.
* Develop and lead nurse-led clinics to meet the needs of patients and their families, working closely with and supporting the Oncology/Haematology day unit manager.
* Provide cross-cover across the wider Haematology specialties at times, working within the wider nurse specialist team.
* Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base and facilitate the professional development of nurses within the Division.
Experience – Essential
* Proven significant post registration haemato-oncology nursing experience
* Experience of teaching/mentoring
* Evidence of management and improving patient experience
* Experience in applying research evidence to clinical practice
* Evidence of advanced communication skills
* Ability to lead and influence change
Experience – Desirable
* Experience as a team leader or equivalent at Band 6 or above
* Evidence of multi-professional working
* Previous experience of working as a clinical nurse specialist
* Experience of audit and research
Qualifications – Essential
* Registered Nurse (First level)
* Relevant post-basic qualification in cancer/palliative care or a related subject
* Teaching assessment qualification
* Advanced communications skills training or readiness to pursue it
* Evidence of continued professional development
Qualifications – Desirable
* Evidence of Masters level learning or intention to pursue it
* Research qualification
* Non‑Medical prescriber status
Salary & Contract Details
Salary: £47,810 to £54,710 per annum pro rata (Band 7)
Contract: Fixed term, 12 months
Working pattern: Part‑time, 30 hours per week
