They are now seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant / Head of Accounts to join their finance team within, supporting the Group Finance Manager. This is a key hands-on role offering end-to-end responsibility across all core finance functions within a supportive and collaborative environment.About the JobThe successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing the day-to-day accounting operations, supporting month-end and year-end processes, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. This is a role suited to someone who enjoys variety and autonomy, with strong technical accounting knowledge and proficiency in Sage 50 and Sage Payroll.Key Responsibilities:Manage full accounts function to trial balance including prepayments, accruals, and WIPPrepare and post monthly journals, maintaining accurate financial recordsComplete bank reconciliations (GBP & EUR)Oversee purchase and sales ledgers and process VAT and RCT returnsSupport month-end and year-end close processes and assist with external auditsPrepare management reports and assist the Group Finance Manager as requiredProcess payroll using Sage Payroll and ensure compliance with statutory requirementsMaintain and update Excel-based reports and reconciliationsYour Skills & Experience:Proven experience in a similar Assistant Accountant or Head of Accounts roleStrong working knowledge of Sage 50 and Sage PayrollExperience preparing accounts to trial balanceStrong understanding of VAT, RCT, and general ledger processesAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, reconciliations)Excellent attention to detail and organisational skillsAbility to work independently and take ownership of responsibilitiesStrong communication skills and a proactive approachHours & Benefits:Hours: Monday to Friday, full-time office-based (Belfast)Benefits: Healthcare package, free on-site parking, and exposure to full end-to-end accountingFor more information on this confidential opportunity, please contact Ollie Mairs at HireIQ in complete confidence.WHJS1_NI
