Manufacturing Engineer Opportunity
A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join a global manufacturing organisation, offering flexibility to support ongoing production issues and be responsible for capex and new manufacturing projects.
Position: Manufacturing Engineer
Location: West Midlands (commutable from Wolverhampton, Walsall, Telford, Shrewsbury, Stafford, Cannock areas)
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 + benefits
Our client is a specialist manufacturer supplying complex metallic products and assemblies for the automotive industry. This year, they plan several key product launches, continued investment in their production facility, increased volumes, and further growth.
Job Description:
1. Specify production facilities and capital equipment; recommend vendors and equipment selection.
2. Implement manufacturing process improvements to optimize performance and capability.
3. Lead CAPEX specifications, facilitate project timelines, approval processes, and budgets.
4. Lead machine PFMEA process for major capital equipment.
5. Review and improve SOPs, process instructions, flow, standard operations, and capability.
6. Support New Product Development (NPI) initiatives and DFM/DFA.
7. Optimize process flow and minimize waste using VSM and lean manufacturing methods.
Experience and Qualifications:
* Proven experience as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Senior Industrial Engineer, or Engineering Manager in high-volume or large-batch mechanical manufacturing.
* Time-served or graduate in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or similar technical field.
* Experience leading significant CAPEX projects, including specification, cost justification, vendor management, and successful NPI launch.
* Lead PFMEA process.
* Project management and supplier/vendor liaison skills.
* Experience with manufacturing processes such as plastic moulding, stamping, cold rolling, casting, forging, CNC machining, or large automated/robotic assembly.
* Strong communication skills for effective liaison and teamwork.
* Hands-on problem-solving, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
* Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
* Willingness to travel to meet suppliers as required.
