Workclosely with clinical colleagues and support the wider Lung & Urology teamswith clinical activity. Provide mutual cross-cover colleagues where necessary.

Job responsibilities
Thisis a 10 PA locum appointment for a Consultant Clinical Oncologist, with aspecial interest in Lung cancers and Urological cancers.
Thispost will deliver 10 PAs supporting the Lung and Urology radiotherapy services,and systemic therapy services.
Thepost will support an established and experienced multi-disciplinarynon-surgical Oncology Lung and Urology teams and will be based at the LeedsCancer Centre, St Jamess University Hospital, Bradford Teaching HospitalsFoundation Trust and Harrogate & District Foundation Trust. The successfulcandidate will work alongside the non-surgical Oncology Lung team led by DrPooja Bhatnagar and supported by DrKevin Franks, Dr Katy Clarke, Dr Peter Dickinson, Dr Mark Teo and Dr AlisonYoung). The successful candidate will also work alongside the Clinical OncologyUrology team led by Dr Joji Joseph and supported by Dr Ann Henry, Dr DavidBottomley, Dr Tanzeel Janjua, Dr Juliette Anderson, Dr Rob Turner, Dr SreeRodda, Dr Lisa Owen, Dr Emma Dugdale, Dr Finn Slevin, Dr Lisa Joseph andConsultant Radiographer - Sean Ralph.
Therewill be opportunities to contribute to the Harrogate Lung MDT and the BradfordUrology MDT, in addition to departmental meetings, teaching, research andservice developments. This is an exciting time to join our Lung and Urologyservices, as we are currently looking at pathway redesign, in addition todeveloping the services and the wider team.

OBJECTIVESOF THE POST
To deliver care to patients with Lung and Urologicalcancers at theLeedsCancer Centre, through:
Lung and Urology Out-patient clinics(at peripheral and central sites)
Supervision of patients undergoingSACT and radiotherapy treatment
Contribution to Specialist Lung andUrology MDT meetings
Tolink with Consultant colleagues in other relevant site specialist teams withinthe Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and across the Yorkshire Cancer Network.
Tocontribute to research, teaching, and new developments within the Leeds CancerCentre. The post holder will be encouraged to facilitate and contribute to thecurrent clinical research programs on going in the department.
GeneralTraining and Qualifications
The appointee must holdaccreditation in FRCR or equivalent and have completed higher specialisttraining (or equivalent) if currently in a training programme within the UK.
Applicantsmust be on the Specialist Register or within six months of being admitted tothe Register for trainees if currently in a training programme within the UK orhave references which have been authorised by the Deputy Medical Director andClinical Director.
Applicantsmust provide information regarding their status from the GMC and/or relevantRoyal College at the time of application, in order for their application to beprogressed further.
Experience
Theappointee must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience andcompetence in all aspects of systemic therapy and radiotherapy for Head &Neck and Thyroid cancers. It is desirable that the candidates have experiencein the conduct of clinical trials.

ClinicalAudit
Theappointee will be expected to contribute and, where appropriate, take the leadin the following:
Mortality and morbidity meetings;
Development and application of agreedclinical guidelines.
Thisis to be included in allocated time in the individuals job plan as asupporting programmed activity. It wouldbe expected that the time allocated for this would include attendance at therelevant departmental audit meeting(s) and that such attendance would berecorded (in accordance with the Trusts clinical audit policy).
Inthe discharge of these responsibilities the candidate will be expected tomaintain and update his/her skills and knowledge through appropriate continuingmedical education.
TEACHING
TheTrust as a teaching hospital recognises the importance of links with theUniversity of Leeds, School of Medicine for the undergraduate teaching and allConsultant and medical staff are required to provide an appropriatecontribution to the undergraduate teaching programme.
Thepost-holder will be required to participate in theundergraduateteaching programme for the school of Medicine, University of Leeds, which isorganised on a speciality or clinical area basis.
Thepost-holder will be required to collaborate with clinical colleagues to deliverappropriate undergraduate teaching in accordance with the Trust contract withthe NHS Executive in association with the University of Leeds.
Theappointee will be expected, with colleagues to also contribute to the teachingof postgraduates, including the teaching programme for SpRs in medical oncologyin the Local Education and Training Board.

Qualifications
* Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practice
* Eligibility to work in the UK
* Is up to date and fit to practise safely
* Higher degree e.g. MD/PhD relevant to the subspecialty
Experience
* Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in Clinical Oncology
* Specifically, he/she must demonstrate higher training in the delivery of systemic therapy and radiotherapy for Lung and Urological cancers
* Evidence of continuous career progression consistent with personal circumstances.
* All applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues demonstrated by one of the following:
* Applicants have undertaken undergraduate medical training in English.
* OR
* Achieved the minimum score of 7 across all 4 of the following categories in the academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) in a single sitting within 24 months at time of application Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. (An overall minimum score of 7.5)

* Achieved the minimum Grade B across all 4 of the following categories in the Occupational English Test (OET) in medicine in a single sitting within 24 months at time of application Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. (You must provide your candidate number)
* *Well organised and skilled in good time management.

* *Demonstrate ability to relate to and work within a team.
* Previous experience of supervising research by junior staff.
* Previous attendance on Appraisal Techniques and Small Group Teaching Workshops.
