Attendance Monitor – Secondary School, Liverpool

We are seeking a committed and proactive Attendance Monitor to join our partner school's pastoral and administrative team. This role is vital to ensuring high levels of student attendance, supporting safeguarding processes, and helping every pupil access a full and effective education.
About the Role
As the Attendance Monitor, you will play a key role in tracking, promoting, and improving student attendance across the school. You’ll work closely with pastoral staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure pupils attend regularly and receive the support needed to overcome barriers to learning.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Attendance Management
Monitor and record student attendance and punctuality using the school’s MIS system.
Follow up on absences by calling parents/carers and logging outcomes.
Produce daily and weekly attendance reports for senior staff.
Intervention & Support
Identify patterns of low or concerning attendance and escalate appropriately.
Work with the Pastoral Team, Heads of Year, and Safeguarding Team to support at-risk students.
Arrange and attend attendance meetings with parents/carers.
Communication & Admin
Maintain accurate records of communication, interventions, and attendance actions.
Liaise with external agencies where necessary to support students with persistent absence.
Support whole‑school initiatives designed to improve punctuality and attendance.
Compliance & Safeguarding
Ensure all attendance procedures meet statutory safeguarding and DfE requirements.
Handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
Confident communicating with parents, students, and staff.
Calm, approachable, and resilient when working with sensitive or challenging situations.
Experienced in school administration, pastoral support, or attendance monitoring (desirable).
Familiar with SIMS/School MIS systems (advantageous, but training can be provided).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
