• Monday to Thursday: 8:00am - 4:30pm
• Friday: 6:00am - 1:30pm

Job Overview
We are recruiting an experienced Engineer / Manager to join a busy sheet metal fabrication environment in Needham Market. This is a hands-on, shopfloor-based role, ideal for someone with strong engineering knowledge who enjoys leading from the front and being actively involved in production.
The role combines practical engineering, fabrication, and people management, with responsibility for overseeing production, supporting the team, and solving day-to-day manufacturing challenges.
This is a 12-week temporary position with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead and supervise the production team in a hands-on capacity
• Actively participate in fabrication and manufacturing tasks on the shopfloor
• Provide clear direction and communication across the team
• Identify production issues and implement practical, effective solutions
• Prepare accurate quotations to support operational requirements
• Demonstrate strong practical engineering and fabrication skills
• Ensure production deadlines are met without compromising quality
• Adapt to changing workloads and priorities

Experience & Requirements
• Proven experience in sheet metal fabrication and welding
• Strong engineering background with supervisory or management experience
• Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings
• Experience preparing or contributing to quotations
• Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines
• Practical, flexible, and solution-focused approach
• Comfortable working in a hands-on, shopfloor-led environment

Interview & Assessment Process
Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend an in-person interview, including practical and theoretical assessment. This may involve:
• Reviewing an engineering drawing and explaining how it would be programmed into machinery
• Discussing folding processes using existing machine programmes
• Demonstrating manufacturing knowledge and problem-solving ability
• Preparing or discussing a quotation
