The Argos Commercial teams work closely with many other functions across the business like Digital, Marketing, Retail and Logistics to deliver for our customers, allowing you to develop connections and learn from teams across the business. Responsibilities
* Lead the merchandising efforts within the Commercial team, translating category strategies into actionable plans to drive profitable growth for product ranges.
* Oversee the planning and execution of sourcing, selection, and trading strategies for a diverse product department, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives and target KPIs such as Sales, Margin, Stock, and Customer satisfaction.
* Play a pivotal role in coaching and developing the Merchandising team, collaborating closely with Buying counterparts to achieve category strategies and deliver a customer-focused proposition.
* Create and implement strategic visions for product ranges; negotiate with suppliers; manage range launches; optimise promotions and events; monitor trading performance; and ensure financial management and stock supply targets are met.
* Drive business improvements, support cross-functional projects, and foster a culture of innovation and excellence within the merchandising function.
Essential Criteria
* Hybrid working from either our Coventry or London Store Support Centre on average 2 days a week, with monthly team meetings at one of these locations.
* Demonstrable experience in merchandising with a proven track record of delivering results to target both individually and within a team environment.
* Proficiency in merchandising and replenishment systems, including technical knowledge of forecasting platforms.
* Ability to plan and manage stock flow across the product lifecycle using merchandising and logistics tools to meet availability targets.
* Experience in supplier management, including planning, negotiating annual terms, and conducting performance reviews against KPIs.
* Capability to lead and develop teams, including performance management, coaching, and ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
