Working pattern
This role offers a structured hybrid model with a clear office requirement:
* Duty week: 5 days in the office – duty week is every 5 weeks
* Non‑duty weeks: 3 days in the office
What you’ll be doing
* Complete high‑quality child and family assessments
* Hold and manage complex cases confidently and independently
* Assess and manage risk at a high level
* Produce strong, timely and defensible assessments and reports
* Contribute expertly to strategy discussions, safeguarding decisions and case conferences
* Work closely with partner agencies and senior professionals
* Model excellent practice and support less experienced colleagues where needed
What we need from you
* At least 3 years’ post‑qualified experience
* 3 years’ PQE gained in a permanent setting
* Experience in a Children’s Assessment Social Work role
* Must be a car driver
* A recognised Social Work qualification
* Social Work England registration

* Strong Safeguarding Practice & Legal Knowledge – understand statutory duties, safeguarding thresholds and the legal framework that underpins excellent assessment work
* Highly Effective Communication & Professional Curiosity – ask the right questions, challenge appropriately, keep the child’s lived experience at the centre of your work
* Reliability, Accountability & Good Case Recording – organise, depend, and produce accurate, timely case notes and high‑quality recording
