Installation Electrician – Solar & EV Charging
Location: Covering the Devon region – reporting office in Plymouth
Salary: Up to £45,000 (DOE)
Contract: Permanent | Full-Time
Sphere Solutions are working with a well-established renewables contractor to recruit an Installation Electrician with experience in solar PV systems and EV charging installations.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing business at the forefront of renewable energy and play a key role in delivering high-quality projects across the Devon region.
The role will focus on the installation, testing, and commissioning of solar panels, inverters, battery storage, and EV chargers in commercial environments, ensuring all work meets industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Install, test, and commission solar PV systems, EV chargers, and associated equipment.
2. Carry out AC & DC electrical wiring, including inverters, isolators, and distribution boards.
3. Install mounting systems, conduit, trunking, and cable containment.
4. Diagnose and resolve technical issues during and after installation.
5. Complete certification and compliance paperwork (EIC, EICR).
6. Ensure installations comply with BS 7671, Part P, OZEV, and MCS standards.
7. Deliver excellent customer service on-site, working collaboratively with project teams.
About You
8. Fully qualified electrician with at least 3 years’ commercial experience (NOT domestic).
9. NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
10. 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
11. City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/2395 (Testing & Inspection).
12. CSCS/ECS card holder.
13. Full UK driving licence.
14. Proven experience with solar PV and/or EV charging installations.
15. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
Desirable:
16. MCS accreditation knowledge.
17. EV charger installation training (City & Guilds 2919).
18. Battery storage experience.
19. Working at Height, Manual Handling & Asbestos Awareness training.
