Join Our Team as the Land Survey Department Leader!
Are you ready to take the reins and build something extraordinary? We’re looking for a passionate and experienced professional to establish and lead our new Land Survey Department from the ground up. Key Responsibilities
* Build and Lead: Establish, grow, and manage a high-performing Land Survey Department, including defining its structure, hiring talented staff, and developing operational procedures.
* Team Management: Create and nurture a dynamic team of field crews, CAD technicians, and project managers.
* Project Oversight: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of diverse survey projects, including boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, construction staking, and as-built surveys.
* Standardization: Develop and implement standardized processes for field data collection, quality control, safety, and CAD production.
* Compliance: Ensure all work adheres to state and federal laws, local regulations, and professional standards.
* Collaboration: Coordinate closely with engineering, planning, construction, and GIS departments for integrated project delivery.
* Budget Management: Develop and manage department budgets, staffing forecasts, and project timelines.
* Client Engagement: Lead client communications, proposals, and presentations related to survey services.
* Mentorship: Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for survey staff.
* Subject Matter Expert: Serve as the company’s go-to expert on land surveying and geospatial matters.
* Licensure Maintenance: Maintain professional licensure and review/seal survey documents as required.
Qualifications
Required:
* Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
* Registered Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in North Carolina; ability to obtain additional licenses as needed.
* 5+ years of progressive surveying experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
* Extensive knowledge of surveying methodologies, legal principles, and industry standards.
* Proficiency with modern survey equipment and software (e.g., GPS, robotic total stations, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center).
* Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred:
* Experience in engineering consulting or land development environments.
* Familiarity with drone (UAS) surveying, LiDAR, and other advanced geospatial technologies.
