Position: Media relations manager
Term: Full time, 37.5 hours per week
Location: Mirfield (hybrid working is an option, with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office)

The role
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic PR professional to join our growing team. We’re looking for someone with proven experience in digital PR and media relations and a strong track record of building and maintaining journalist relationships. You’ll be well-versed in all strands of PR activity, including preparing articles and press releases for the media, as well as identifying and securing comment opportunities to achieve coverage in line with our clients’ objectives. You must be organised, confident, and passionate about keeping a constant eye on relevant news stories, opportunities, and ever-changing needs of journalists you liaise with. You’ll play a key role in growing and protecting our clients’ brands in the media, and work closely with other departments in the business, including design, digital marketing and, content marketing, to deliver wider integrated communications strategies. The role requires exceptional copywriting skills, a passion to establish and develop relationships with national, regional, and trade press contacts, and the ability to manage multiple accounts and projects simultaneously. What’s more, you’ll have a strong understanding of media relations, as well as the confidence to be able to talk through your ideas and rationale.
On a day-to-day basis, you will be:
- Working directly with clients to understand their objectives
-Liaising with internal departments of the business, to achieve clients’ goals
-Pitching to a range of journalists / publications for opportunities
-Copywriting for selected opportunities secured
- Monitoring ResponseSource and the news for proactive comment opportunities and following these up
-Attending internal and client meetings
Skills and experience required:
-Minimum three years’ PR experience
-Exceptional writing and editing skills, as well as a sound news sense to craft impactful narratives
- Great networking skills, and a solid knowledge of the UK national, regional, online, and trade media
- The ability to act on initiative, to work under pressure, and exercise judgement
-Confidence to talk through ideas and rationale
-Obsessive attention to detail
-A proactive mindset
-Ability to work to tight deadlines and as part of a wider team
