We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate to join our growing Disputes team, based in the A&O Shearman Belfast office.

The Role
We have a new opportunity for an Associate to join the Disputes team in our Belfast office.
In this role you will lead a growing team of Legal Professionals on large scale document reviews, working with offices across the global network on client matters supporting multiple practice groups. In the early stages of engagements this will include scoping and planning work and monitoring capacity.
What you will do
1. Lead growing teams of Legal Professionals to work with instructing offices on client matters.
2. Work closely with Partners and instructing teams to define and deliver legal services projects and services.
3. Establish and maintain the highest standards for quality, efficiency, and service including quality controlling the work of more junior members of the team.
4. Manage and report on progress and liaise with internal and external clients to address points of relevance or concern and resolving queries and issues.
5. Provide legal expertise, including drafting, reviewing, and amending documentation, document management, legal research, maintaining and improving templates and precedents.
6. As required, participate in business development and client pitches, pricing decisions, and client service discussions, including direct interaction with key client and instructing team stakeholders.
7. Represent and promote ADL across the A&O global network in meetings, instructing team discussions and with clients..
8. Mentor, develop and train Legal Professionals and junior team members.
What you will have
9. Qualified solicitor or barrister with experience working within a Litigation or Disputes environment.
10. Experience leading and co-ordinating complex multi-faceted matters, including large scale document reviews.
11. Experience of managing teams and supervising junior lawyers and/or trainees.
12. Commercially astute and deep expertise in either international transactional or disputes law, or alternatively very senior generalist legal experience.
13. Proven ability to take ownership of own work.
14. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
15. Strong relationship-building skills – a team player with the ability to establish credibility and inspire confidence with clients and senior colleagues.
