The role of the Locum Business Manager (internally known as Locum Agency Manager) focuses on leading people and achieving high team performance. You will develop and train team members to perform at their best, benefiting our customers. Recruiting, motivating, and exercising autonomy and creativity in decision-making are key aspects. You will also be part of the Scotland Regional Leadership team. You will support our agency partners as needed to ensure seamless service delivery, handling a variety of tasks across different teams and offices. Our Scottish agencies vary in size from £5m to over £20m gross written premium income, with self-employed leaders. This role offers a unique chance to develop leadership skills in often pressurised situations requiring resilience, calmness, and creativity. When not in the field, you can opt for home working. We offer flexibility to maintain a healthy work-life balance. The role primarily supports agency partners in North or South Scotland, with occasional involvement in other locations. This role complies with Insurance Distribution Directive requirements, including ongoing Continuous Professional Development and regular re-screening to maintain “Good Repute”. You should have experience in the insurance sector, preferably with NFUM product knowledge and licensing; broader commercial and personal insurance experience will also be considered. Flexibility and willingness to travel frequently are essential. Key skills include: People leadership, management, coaching, and development Face-to-face sales and customer service experience Operational management skills Resilience and autonomous working Strong decision-making skills under pressure You should be adaptable, motivated, organized, and capable of building effective relationships within a regulated environment.
