Responsible for providing a high standard of Occupational Therapy (OT) services to patients treated within the RFH Trust Acute site. This requires working under supervision and guidance and incorporating evidence-based practice (EBP) in the management of patient care. The rotations take place on a 6 monthly basis and include the following clinical areas:
* Health Services for Elderly People
* Acute Neurosciences
* Critical Care – Medicine
* Critical Care - Surgery
* Orthopaedics
* Renal & Urology
* Rapid Response
Within these rotations you will complete functional assessment and treatment of patients preparing them for safe discharge to home, the community or rehabilitation settings. The caseload consists of patients with physical and mental dysfunctions, and encompasses various specialty areas of Occupational Therapy. Depending upon the site, this post may require the ability to perform manual handling tasks such as the hoisting and/or transfer of patients, fitting and delivery of ADL equipment, specialist splinting skills and basic IT skills.

* Trauma & Orthopaedics
* Respiratory & Critical Care
* Medicine & Surgery
* Health Services for Elderly People
* Rapid Response
* Renal & Urology
The rotations give you the opportunity to work across a wide range of clinical specialties, to develop core occupational therapy skills in order to carry out complex occupational therapy assessments of functional ability, cognition, home situation and psychosocial issues. You will be a key member of a large multi-disciplinary team, working together in the best interests of the patients. You will be supported by a highly structured programme of learning and induction and experienced senior occupational therapists.
