Job Title: Live-In Care Assistant Location: Ipswich Pay: £973.56 per week Shifts: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM working day with standard live-in evening/overnight presence. About the Role As a Live-In Care Assistant, you will provide one-to-one support to a vulnerable person in their home, helping them live safely, independently, and with dignity. You will assist with personal care, companionship, mobility, emotional support, and daily living tasks such as meals and housekeeping. In this specific role, you will be supporting an engaging gentleman in his 60s, who lives with his partner in Ipswich. Following a Left Pontine Stroke and a subsequent fall from standing that caused a spinal cord injury, the service user is chairbound and completely dependent on full assistance for all areas of daily life. He is able to breathe, talk, eat, and control his head independently, but has no physical function below this point. The service user enjoys a vibrant life at home and in his community. He loves watching television-especially Australian dramas, Storage Hunters, and channels like Pick and Quest. He has a great fondness for gardening and frequently accesses his newly modified, wheelchair-friendly garden in his manual wheelchair. Refer a friend scheme. Your responsibilities will include: Providing 24/7 home care and companionship tailored to individual needs. Supporting complex personal care, full mobility transfers, and safe use of specialized moving and handling equipment. Assisting with home exercises as prescribed by the service user's physiotherapist. Managing and monitoring critical clinical conditions, including Autonomic Dysreflexia (characterized by excessively high blood pressure) and unpredictable muscle spasms in all four limbs. Managing catheter care (ensuring it is securely clipped and monitored). Assisting with meals, medication administration (as trained), and light housekeeping. Coordinating with healthcare professionals, including assisting the District Nurse during scheduled bowel management visits (enemas). Monitoring overall wellbeing, reporting health changes immediately, and keeping highly accurate daily care records. Supporting emotional wellbeing, morning and evening routines, and social outings in the local community. Who We're Looking For A minimum of 6 months of professional UK Care experience (Essential). Prior experience with Complex Care (Spinal Cord Injury, Stroke, or Autonomic Dysreflexia management). Compassionate, observant individuals with strong communication skills to build a great relationship with the service user and his partner.
