Job Title: Chef Manager

Location: Sky Campus, Glasgow

Salary: £34,000 per annum

Role Purpose

As Chef Manager, you will lead all aspects of the kitchen operation at our Sky Glasgow site. From menu innovation and food quality to budgeting and team development, you will ensure that the catering service consistently exceeds client expectations while maintaining BaxterStorey's high operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

Culinary Leadership & Menu Innovation

* Plan, develop and deliver seasonal menus tailored to the site and customer profile.
* Lead daily food production, ensuring quality, consistency, and presentation standards.
* Use fresh, sustainable ingredients, reducing food waste and championing responsible sourcing.
* Support innovation and introduce new food concepts to enhance customer engagement.

Operational Management

* Oversee the smooth running of the kitchen, ensuring efficiency and a safe workflow.
* Manage food ordering, stock rotation, waste control and deliveries with full accountability.
* Maintain accurate records including allergen documentation, temperature logs, cleaning schedules and compliance paperwork.

People Management

* Lead, coach and inspire the kitchen team, fostering a positive and supportive culture.
* Oversee staff recruitment, onboarding, weekly rotas and performance management.
* Identify development needs and deliver training to support progression and retention.
* Encourage a collaborative working environment aligned with BaxterStorey values.

Financial & Commercial Responsibility

* Manage the kitchen budget including food cost, labour cost and purchasing.
* Monitor and report on weekly and monthly financial performance, including P&L.
* Implement cost-effective practices without compromising food quality.
* Drive revenue opportunities through menu design, promotions, and customer engagement.

Health, Safety & Compliance

* Ensure full compliance with Food Safety, HACCP and Health & Safety regulations.
* Maintain a 5-star food hygiene standard through rigorous operational controls.
* Conduct regular risk assessments and uphold company safety policies.
* Lead by example in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation.

Client & Customer Engagement

* Build strong relationships with the Sky client team, responding to feedback and evolving needs.
* Ensure excellent customer experience for staff and visitors on site.
* Support client events, hospitality functions and bespoke catering requirements.

Person Specification

Essential Experience

* Proven background as Chef Manager, Head Chef or equivalent within contract catering or high-volume food service.
* Strong culinary flair with the ability to design modern, appealing menus.
* Experience managing budgets, food cost controls and financial reporting.
* Track record of leading, developing and motivating kitchen teams.
* Deep knowledge of food safety regulations, allergen management and H&S procedures.

* Strong communication skills with professional client-facing ability.

* Formal culinary qualifications (Level 2/3 Professional Cookery or equivalent).
* Experience within business & industry (B&I) or workplace catering environments.

Job Description

* Cultivating and driving an OBSESSED food culture – Work closely with FOH Manager and Executive Chef to let your creativity flow and uphold a fantastic vibrant offer of food, keep that passion injected in your team and be an ambassador for all the wonderful work we do with various in house initiatives
* Food Preparation – prepare and cook dishes according to the recipes and standards set by the head chef; ensuring food safety standards are adhered to at all time.
* Station Management – oversee the production of all dishes assigned to your station and upkeep your designated area with supplies and ensuring cleanliness in line with policies and procedures.
* Quality Control – maintain high quality standards for all dishes, ensuring presentation and taste is considered at all times.
* Team Collaboration – communicate positively and effectively with all other team members and assist/support all colleagues where necessary. Coaching of junior chefs to support development.
* Menu Development – collaborate with head chef to develop and taste new recipes, providing suggestions for improvement or innovation.
* Cleaning and Maintenance – maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen including your designated area ensuring equipment is in good working order.


Qualifications

* Proven experience working as a Sous Chef, Head Chef, Kitchen Manager or similar role.
* Knowledge of various cooking techniques and cuisines.
* Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
* Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
* Strong communication and teamwork abilities
