Associate Director of Development

Join to apply for the Associate Director of Development role at Millfield School

Salary: In the region of £65,000‑£75,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience

Location: Street, Somerset

Millfield is one of the UK’s most dynamic and diverse independent schools, with a bold mission to Discover Brilliance in Every Child. As one of the largest co‑educational boarding and day schools it offers world‑leading teaching and coaching. With nearly 1,300 senior students (aged 13‑18) and 440 students at Millfield Prep, the school is a vibrant, international community where 20 % of students are from more than 70 countries.

Millfield is now seeking an inspiring and strategic Associate Director of Development to help drive the school’s philanthropic vision forward. Reporting to the Director of Development, the Associate Director will shape and implement a new engagement and fundraising strategy, lead and manage a skilled team, and play a significant role in major gift fundraising as part of the school’s Centenary Campaign, Discover Brilliance.

Bringing a strong track record in securing significant gifts, building varied development programmes and developing compelling cases for support, the successful candidate will bring leadership, insight and energy, along with a passion for education and a belief in the power of philanthropy to change lives.

Experience working in a UK school environment is not essential, but candidates should be supportive of independent education and the Millfield ethos.

To apply, please contact RSAcademics for an informal, confidential discussion about the post: Susannah Thompson – susannahthompson@rsacademics.com. The closing date for applications is 10.00 am on Tuesday 11 November 2025.

Millfield School is an equal opportunities employer and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and related amendments. The safeguarding responsibilities of the role are indicated in the candidate information. RSAcademics is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and to promoting diversity and inclusion in schools.
