Overview
St Cuthberts Church is looking to appoint a Project Manager (client side) to enable the smooth delivery of its exciting new Opening Doors Project. You will be at the heart of one of the most important building projects in Darlington and be part of the most significant change at St Cuthberts for the past 150 years. The project seeks to transform the inside of St Cuthberts into an accessible, flexible community hub so it can develop its wider social, cultural and heritage role within the town of Darlington which it serves.
Fixed term contract up to 2 years
Salary: £42,000 p/a pro rata
Hours: up to 20 per week
Annual leave: 28 days, inc. statutory holidays
Start date: November 2025 (negotiable)

Contract start: January 2026 on-site for the £2M transformation of St Cuthberts church building
Responsibilities
* Lead the client-side management of the Opening Doors Project, ensuring smooth delivery and alignment with project objectives.
* Work closely with Knox McConnell Architects and Pinnacle Conservation and act as St Cuthberts representative on a week-to-week basis.
* Coordinate with contractors and stakeholders to open the church to new audiences, organisations and worshippers.
* Ensure quality workmanship, effective communication, problem solving and relational intelligence throughout the project.
* Support on-site project management from January 2026 and oversee progress against plan and budget.
Qualifications
* Relevant construction experience with a passion for quality workmanship.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with strong problem solving and relational intelligence.
* Ability to work with external partners and maintain a positive working relationship with stakeholders.
