As an Associate Director Electrical Engineer in the D&AT practice, the successful candidate would have the following responsibilities:
Responsibilities
* Own and direct a team of Electrical & ICA engineers for delivery of technical design work on complex multi‑disciplinary projects, following relevant client and project specific design codes and standards, to high‑quality levels.
* Successfully manage time and budgets of the Electrical & ICA team to key project milestones and programmes.
* Direct and review technical deliverables such as Single Line Diagrams, Cable Block Diagrams, Load Schedules, MCC specifications, Control Philosophies, and Control Network Architecture.
* Provide technical leadership into project design deliverables for Electrical aspects of complex multi‑disciplinary projects, working with the project management team to manage time and budgets to key project milestones and programmes.
* Collaborate with client, operational, project, or service activities within your immediate team and other related AtkinsRéalis teams.
* Provide direction and guidance to Senior and Principal colleagues.
* Lead the growth of the local Electrical & ICA team and the wider Electrical & ICA technical network.
* Work independently with minimal technical guidance; exercise personal judgement to solve difficult problems where appropriate and provide guidance to Senior and Principal team members.
* Provide technical support and direction for bid proposals.
* Work closely with multi‑disciplinary teams in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions.
* Set quality assurance standards in design and ensure compliance across Electrical & ICA teams.
* Lead business development initiatives to drive growth in the water market for AtkinsRéalis.
* Support leadership and management of the D&D team within the Manchester office.
Qualifications
* A degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
* Chartered Engineer.
* Proven experience in leading or directing an Electrical & ICA engineering design delivery team for a design consultancy within a multi‑disciplinary environment.
* Takes broad perspective to identify innovative solutions to design problems.
* Requires comprehensive knowledge and practical experience in electrical design.
* Extensive knowledge of water company design codes and standards, as well as industry best practices such as WIMES.
* Strong awareness of HAZOP assessments, lightning strike risk assessments, earthing and bonding, lighting designs, DSEAR and ATEX installation practices.
* Ability to work independently with minimal technical guidance.
* Experience in the water market is preferred but not required.
* Experience in industrial and process environments is essential.
* Demonstrates strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly and effectively within diverse multi‑disciplinary teams.
* A proactive, highly motivated mindset with a collaborative approach to drive teamwork and shared success across projects.
