Marine Data Analyst – MDE Heritage Accelerator
Location: Hybrid (Swindon or London)
Contract Type: Full-time, Fixed-Term (18 months)

The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity is available to join the Policy Development team as a Marine Data Analyst. This position supports the MDE Heritage Accelerator project—an initiative enhancing The Crown Estate’s Marine Data Exchange (MDE) and the National Marine Heritage Record (NMHR) with heritage data generated from offshore developments. This role contributes to the delivery of more sustainable and informed marine planning in the offshore wind sector.
Key Responsibilities
* Process, record, and enhance geospatial information derived from seabed surveys.
* Transform detailed marine heritage data into consistent and accessible spatial formats.
* Contribute to the integration of processed data into the MDE and NMHR.
* Analyse large and complex datasets to derive meaningful insights and support project goals.
* Ensure all outputs align with technical, methodological, and heritage standards.
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
* Level 6/7 academic or professional qualification in a relevant field (marine survey, seabed mapping, heritage), or equivalent practical experience.
* Demonstrated experience working with marine or heritage data in a professional context.
* Strong numeracy and logical problem-solving skills.
* Advanced capabilities in GIS, databases, and spreadsheet tools.
* Good understanding of seabed survey systems and associated data processing methods used in UK marine heritage.
* Familiarity with UK standards and lexicons used for processing and recording marine and heritage data.
