Position Overview:
As a Preventative Maintenance Engineer, you will collaborate with the controller to maximize the operational availability of equipment for the customer through timely and efficient routine and preventative maintenance, servicing, and machine inspections. Your responsibilities include identifying potential issues that may impact availability and performing minor repairs as needed. You will serve as an ambassador for safety, ensuring all servicing promotes safety for yourself and the customer.

Major Job Functions
1. Preventative Maintenance Servicing: Routine servicing of equipment per manufacturer guidelines, including oil sampling (75%)
2. Machine Inspection: Visual and mechanical analysis to identify issues in systems like hydraulic, electrical, powertrain, and mechanical components (20%)
3. Minor Repairs: Conduct minor repairs, install telematic systems, perform undercarriage inspections (5%)

*This is a field-based role requiring a full driving license for at least 2 years (subject to DVLA check).
Working Hours:
43 hours/week, flexible start/finish times, Monday to Friday, with 1 Saturday in 3 at overtime rate.
Specific Skills:
Basic knowledge of engines, hydraulics, powertrain, and vehicle electrics/electronics related to servicing and repairing heavy mobile plant or similar equipment.
Accountability:
Attend customer sites, perform preventative maintenance, liaise with service controller and customers, ensure high standards and safety, complete documentation accurately, and maintain company vehicle and equipment.
Education and Experience:
Approximately 3 years of relevant experience or related engineering background (e.g., HGV fitter, agricultural engineer, military vehicle mechanic), formal apprenticeship with at least C&G level 1, health & safety training preferred but not essential. Training and progression opportunities are available.
