About Noah’s Ark
ABOUT NOAH'S ARK CHILDREN'S HOSPICE
We help babies, children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, and their families, enjoy life as children and families, not just as patients or carers. Services are provided in homes, in the community, or at The Ark in Barnet.
We collaborate with NHS Trusts and other care providers to support children with complex needs and build confidence and wellbeing for families.
The Role
We’re expanding our team and are looking for more Specialist Carers to join our charity. You’ll be joining an award-winning, certified Outstanding team who empower families to experience as much life as possible.
As a Specialist Carer, you’ll provide life-changing care for babies, children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, in collaboration with families, multidisciplinary teams and colleagues.
You’ll ensure each child is treated as an individual, focusing on what they can do and helping them experience new possibilities. Care may be delivered at The Ark or in the community.
As a Band 4 Specialist Carer you will be a senior carer, pass on your skills by supporting and training junior colleagues, and actively lead care planning reviews, projects and meetings.
Your commitment to children and families continues through end-of-life care, providing comfort and support alongside other healthcare professionals.
About You
You’ll have experience caring for babies, children and young people with complex health needs and be competent in a range of complex nursing skills. You’ll value play and enjoy creating engaging activities for those you care for.
We look for candidates who embody kindness, excellence and courage. You’ll thrive working autonomously in the community, while collaborating with your team and families to deliver the best care. Creativity and play will be central to your approach, and you’ll build long-term relationships with children and families.
You’ll understand and adhere to policies and procedures, working under delegation of a registered children’s nurse. Availability to work varied shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends) is required. A full UK driving licence and access to a car are essential; travel time is paid, with car parking reimbursement and a mileage allowance.
What You’ll Get
You’ll join an award-winning, Outstanding team with high standards for paediatric palliative care. Ongoing training is provided by our Learning and Development Team. The Ark is a 7.5-acre site where you’ll work when not in the community.
Benefits include 25 days holidays (rising to 30), life assurance, a generous pension, free parking, subsided meals, wellbeing support, and strong staff engagement. 92% of staff report being able to be their full selves at work.
