Role Overview:
As an Operations Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of their food manufacturing facility, ensuring production runs smoothly, efficiently, and safely. You will be responsible for managing a team, optimizing production processes, maintaining high standards of quality and safety, and driving continuous improvement. This is a key leadership role that requires both technical expertise and strong people management skills.
Key Responsibilities:
* Operational Leadership: Manage and lead the daily operations of the production facility, ensuring products are manufactured efficiently, safely, and meet quality standards.
* Team Management: Lead, motivate, and develop a team of production supervisors and staff. Foster a positive working environment and promote continuous learning and development.
* Process Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement and implement lean manufacturing practices to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality.
* Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and environmental guidelines. Promote a culture of safety across the workforce.
* Quality Control: Work closely with the quality assurance team to maintain high product quality standards, troubleshoot quality issues, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
* Inventory and Supply Chain Management: Oversee inventory levels and coordinate with procurement to ensure timely availability of raw materials and supplies. Optimise stock control processes.
* Budget and Cost Management: Monitor and control operational costs, ensuring that production remains within budget while maintaining high standards of output and quality.
* Reporting and Analytics: Track production performance and provide regular reports to senior management. Use data-driven insights to inform decision-making and improve operational efficiency.
* Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with other departments such as maintenance, engineering, HR, and logistics to ensure smooth operations and address any production-related issues promptly.
Key Requirements:
* Proven experience in an operations management role within a food manufacturing environment.
* Strong leadership skills with a track record of successfully managing teams in a fast-paced, production-focused setting.
* In-depth knowledge of food manufacturing processes, health and safety regulations, and quality standards.
* Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement strategies.
* Strong problem-solving abilities and a data-driven approach to decision-making.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
* A strong understanding of inventory and supply chain management.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.
* Relevant qualifications in operations management, food science, or a related field are desirable.
