A unique opportunity has become available for a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist for the Retinoblastoma service, based at The Royal London Hospital. The postholder will work as part of the multidisciplinary oncology and ophthalmology team providing highly specialised cancer care to patients and their families from diagnosis to remission and beyond.
The postholder will be a keyworker for children with retinoblastoma, coordinating treatment and holistic care across all treating hospitals to ensure a seamless cancer care journey. They will act as an expert resource for trust colleagues and other healthcare professionals, participate in educational activities, and support the development of other staff, junior doctors, visiting clinicians, undergraduates, and school staff.
There are significant opportunities for professional development, including gaining experience in extended roles, audit, and research. The primary base will be The Royal London Hospital, but the postholder will also work at Great Ormond Street Hospital, as the retinoblastoma service spans two sites and trusts.

The London Retinoblastoma service is one of two national treatment centres in the UK, serving as a primary treatment centre for diagnosis and treatment of Retinoblastoma, provided across The Royal London and Great Ormond Street Hospital.
The post holder will:
1. Be the key worker for the Retinoblastoma patient caseload from external referring centres.
2. Facilitate and coordinate therapeutic treatment and care, ensuring patient needs are central to care delivery.
3. Provide clinical nursing leadership with specialist knowledge critical to the Retinoblastoma service.
4. Act as an expert resource for patients and colleagues within the multidisciplinary teams at both hospitals.
5. Contribute to developing the nursing workforce through training and teaching related to Retinoblastoma treatment.
6. Participate in clinical audits, quality, and risk management initiatives to ensure excellence in care.
7. Represent the clinical specialty and Trust at internal and external meetings, in line with national guidelines and initiatives.
