Job Description of the Clerk to the Langley Hall Primary Academy Trust Governing Board
We are seeking an organised and proactive Clerk to support our Governing Board. This is a vital role providing advice, guidance, and efficient administration to ensure effective governance.
The main purpose of the role is to:
* Provide advice to the governing board on governance, constitutional and procedural matters. Regulations require governing bodies to have regard to advice from the clerk in regard to exercising the governing board functions.
* Provide effective administrative support to the governing board and its committees.
* Ensure the governing board is properly constituted.
* Manage information effectively in accordance with legal requirements.
* Liaise with the PA for the Executive Head as and when required.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide expert advice on governance, legislation, and best practice to the Governing Board, Chair, and Executive Head.
* Prepare agendas, circulate papers, and ensure the smooth and effective administration of meetings (both virtual and in-person).
* Record accurate minutes, track actions, and maintain records of attendance, training, and governor terms of office.
* Support the induction and succession planning of governors and maintain up-to-date statutory registers and documentation.
* Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, policies, and legislative changes, keeping the Governing Board fully informed.
* Manage governance records, correspondence, and ensure information is available and accessible, including on the school website.
* Undertake ongoing training and development to stay current with governance legislation and practice.
Additional Services (as required):
* Clerk statutory appeal committees and panels.
* Assist with governor recruitment and elections.
* Contribute to governor training and maintain archive materials.
* Prepare briefing papers and advise on training needs and governor appointments.
* Carry out other governance-related tasks as determined by the Governing Board.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £26.50 per hour
