An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint to a post as a Team Leader for the Skye & Lochalsh Midwifery Team. The post offers an opportunity for experienced midwives who are keen to practice and lead midwife-led care services in remote and rural practice. Applicants should have a wide variety of recent senior midwifery experience.
The midwifery team provide maternity services within the community midwifery unit based in Broadford Hospital, and across the Skye and Lochalsh area. The service offers local or homebirth for low risk pregnancies. For the management, care and transfer of higher risk pregnancies and sick neonates the midwifery team work closely with NHS Highland Obstetric, Midwifery and Neonatal Maternity Unit team based in Raigmore Hospital, Inverness (approx 110 miles away). The midwifery team work flexibly to provide a 24/7 service.
For this post, you should be highly motivated, enthusiastic with a desire to develop the service and have the ability to inspire others. You should be able to embrace the challenges that this leadership and management role brings and have the potential to develop close working relationships with the multidisciplinary team.
Interested applicants should ideally be educated to degree level or demonstrate experience of similar leadership roles. This post is 30hrs per week with additional out of hours on call commitment. A current driving licence is essential, and you will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations to meet the operational requirements of the service. You may also need to provide team lead cross cover to other remote teams in the Team leads absence.
