An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Social Worker to join the Family Court Adviser (FCA) Team with Cafcass in Newcastle.
This ongoing locum role offers a competitive hourly rate of £32.00 and the flexibility of part-time or full-time working. You will play a critical role in representing the best interests of children involved in family court proceedings, providing independent, high-quality social work analysis and recommendations to the court.

What You Will Do
Represent the best interests of children in family court proceedings, providing independent social work advice to the court.
Undertake comprehensive assessments covering risk, parenting capacity, family functioning, and the child’s needs and wishes.
Prepare high-quality, analytical court reports with clear, evidence-based recommendations focused on the child’s welfare.
Attend and contribute to court hearings, case management hearings, and multi-agency meetings.
Work collaboratively with local authorities, legal professionals, health services, and partner agencies.
Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality case records in line with Cafcass standards.
Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns, including domestic abuse, parental conflict, and complex family dynamics.
Ensure the child’s voice is central to all assessment, analysis, and recommendations.
Requirements
Degree in Social Work (or equivalent) and registered with Social Work England.
Significant experience in Children’s Social Care, including safeguarding and court work.
Strong experience in assessment, analysis, and report writing.
Excellent understanding of child protection, private and/or public law proceedings, and safeguarding frameworks.
Confident communicator with the ability to present evidence and professional opinion in court.
Ability to manage complex cases, tight deadlines, and high levels of professional responsibility.
