Role Purpose:
The back shift supervisor will oversee the daily operations and support the evening transport activities within a pallet network, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and smooth execution of transport tasks.
This role requires strong IT skills, knowledge of Vigo TMS management systems, and a thorough understanding of tachograph regulations, the Working Time Directive (WTD), and legal driver hours. Excellent communication skills and adaptability in a dynamic environment are essential.
The supervisor will build strong working relationships with the Customer Service Supervisor, the Day Shift Operations Supervisor, and the Groupage Manager to ensure operational success.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee back-shift transport and planning operations for timely goods delivery.
* Utilize ELogii TMS for route optimization, scheduling, and reporting (from 20:00 to 22:00, day one to day two).
* Ensure compliance with transport regulations, including tachograph laws and WTD.
* Monitor KPIs and performance metrics to meet and exceed service standards.
* Maintain effective communication with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
* Collaborate with the compliance manager on vehicle maintenance and fleet management.
* Support health and safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
* Assist with daily IT system requirements to support logistics operations.
* Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Key Skills & Experience:
* Experience as a shift manager or in a similar logistics/transport role.
* Proficiency with Vigo TMS.
* Knowledge of pallet network operations and compliance legislation.
* Understanding of tachograph laws, WTD, and driver hours.
* Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
* Knowledge of health and safety regulations and budget management.
Desirable Qualifications:
* CPC in Transport Management.
* Experience with data analytics for operational improvements.
Working Conditions:
* Office-based with occasional travel.
* Irregular hours may be required, with shifts from 13:00 to 22:00, Monday to Friday.
* Support for bank holidays as needed.
