Established in 1997 as the first manufacturer of sushi for the UK supermarket industry, Taiko has evolved into the most innovative manufacturer of Sushi, Food To Go, Prepared Meals and Snacking products in the UK, supplying Waitrose, Tesco and Sainsbury’s to name a few. Over the past 25 years Taiko has launched more first to market Sushi and Food to Go products than any other sushi manufacturer in the UK. We are currently seeking a dedicated and proactive Labelling Supervisor to join our Production team. This is a hands-on, leadership-focused role where you will be responsible for overseeing all operations within the Labelling department. Key Responsibilities: Supervise and manage the Labelling team to ensure all duties are completed accurately and on time, with zero tolerance for errors. Take ownership of all labelling operations, including training, managing staff absences, and daily record-keeping. Ensure all products are labelled correctly and neatly with the correct Use By (UB) date. Maintain high standards of product quality—products not meeting Taiko’s quality standards must not be sent to customers. Enforce hygiene rules and lead by example, ensuring all team members comply with company procedures. Maintain optimal line speed to ensure both productivity and quality. Attend daily production meetings and effectively communicate relevant updates to Production Operatives. Be vigilant in reporting any problems or deviations to the Factory Manager immediately. Create and maintain a positive and motivated team environment, with a focus on continuous improvement and Kaizen activity. Ensure implementation and adherence to the BRC Technical Standard across your area. Cover QC and Assistant Supervisor duties when required. Serve as Fire Warden and/or First Aider as requested by Management. Take responsibility for the shopfloor condition, working with materials including vegetable, fish, chicken, duck, mayo, sesame seeds, and other allergens. Understand and take ownership of machinery, technical requirements, and training within the area.
Key Requirements: Proven leadership experience in a food manufacturing environment, ideally in labelling or production. Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and product quality. Knowledge of the BRC Technical Standard and its application in daily operations. Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead, train, and motivate staff. Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities. Comfortable working in a cold environment and handling materials weighing. Flexible and proactive approach to covering additional responsibilities when required.
