Band 7 Senior Support Pharmacist Acute Medicine

The closing date is 10 August 2025

We are recognised as one of the leading NHS Foundation Trusts in the UK. Our vision is to Build Healthier Lives, and we acknowledge that we need incredible staff to do this.

Our commitment to our staff is to create the best place for them to work, and we are dedicated to investing in the health and wellbeing of our staff. We offer our staff a wide variety of training and development opportunities, to support their personal and career development objectives.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive and dynamic individual with vision, drive and enthusiasm to join the Pharmacy team as the Senior Support Pharmacist for Acute Medicine based at Good Hope Hospital at UHB Trust.

Dependent on experience, this role can also be offered as a development role and is open to candidates who have completed at least 2-3 early year pharmacist rotations and have started the clinical diploma or who consistently meet the level expected of a post-registration foundation pharmacist within the RPS Newly Qualified Pharmacist Pathway. Applicants with 12 months post-registration hospital experience will be appointed in a development post under Agenda for Change Annex 21 (payment at 75% of the maximum band 7 pay), uplifted to the band 7 starting pay as per Agenda for Change on completion of the first year of clinical diploma or NHSE/RPS Newly Qualified Pharmacist Pathway. All applicants will then be given the opportunity to progress onto the independent prescribing course.

Main duties of the job

You will deliver a high-quality specialist clinical pharmacy service, and there will be a strong emphasis on supporting you in developing leadership and mentoring skills to the next level.

You will be introduced to core directorate activities and will take on enhanced roles relating to education and training, such as developing training programmes and involvement with training of new doctors. You will have responsibility for the supervision of less experienced members of the team including junior pharmacists and trainee pharmacists.

Some of the benefits of joining our team at UHB:

*Work with a fantastic team that contributes to regional initiatives that report to the Medicines Management Advisory Group to improve quality of care across the interface

*Excellent learning/development opportunities to ensure the post-holder can undertake clinical duties independently working alongside a specialist team.

*Post-graduate training in pharmacy and support to utilise non-medical prescribing (NMP) or support to undertake if not completed.

*Protected learning during work hours to facilitate your development.

*Access to trust health and wellbeing initiatives and a variety of staff networks.

*Access to exclusive benefits for you and your family including NHS discounts at various retailers, restaurants and leisure facilities
