Job Summary
You will work as one of four senior traders reporting to the Trading Manager. The team collaborates to hedge energy demand for aggregated portfolios and individual public sector organisations, delivering value for money within risk parameters. The role oversees the full operational lifecycle of trading products and provides customer communications to ensure seamless portfolio delivery. As a subject‑matter expert, you will provide strategic technical guidance on emerging areas such as corporate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and direct wire offerings to meet evolving public sector needs.
Key Accountabilities
* Proactively execute electricity and gas hedging to deliver value to public sector customers, adhering to risk strategies
* Provide expert understanding of UK power and gas markets, fundamentals and policy frameworks
* Undertake or oversee back‑office and forecasting tasks supporting customer price‑setting activities
* Draft accurate, informative, timely customer reports
* Represent the team at strategic meetings with key stakeholders
* Offer expertise to the wider energy team on development areas such as direct wire, corporate PPAs, and flexibility
Essential Criteria
* Trading / Hedging Execution: Proven experience in proactive execution of gas and electricity hedging, with a demonstrable record of adhering to formal risk parameters
* Market Analysis: Ability to use fundamental and technical analysis to inform trading decisions
* Stakeholder Influence: Strong communication skills with the ability to translate market movements into clear, stakeholder‑friendly reports
* IT Capability & Quantitative Aptitude: Proficient in Microsoft Excel for energy modelling (advanced formulas, pivot tables, data visualisation) and able to manage large, complex datasets for price‑setting or forecasting
* Specialist Energy Structures: Knowledge and/or experience of non‑standard assets such as direct wire, corporate PPAs or flexibility/DSR
