SEN Teacher – Flexible / Temporary Contract

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a specialist secondary SEN provision in West Lancashire to recruit an SEN Teacher on a temporary and flexible contract, starting as soon as possible. This role is ideal for Early Career Teachers (ECTs) looking to gain valuable SEN experience or experienced teachers seeking a more flexible position with reduced responsibilities.
The School
The provision supports students aged 11–19 with a wide range of additional learning needs. All students have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and benefit from a highly supportive, specialist learning environment. The school caters for pupils with needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), speech, language and communication needs, and moderate to severe learning difficulties, with a strong focus on personalised learning and preparing students for adulthood.
Staff work closely within a multidisciplinary team to deliver engaging, accessible learning that supports pupils both academically and socially.
The Role
This is a flexible teaching opportunity where you will:
Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs
Support pupils with a range of SEN including ASD and communication needs
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and support staff
Create a positive, structured learning environment where pupils can thrive
Focus on high-quality teaching without the extensive additional responsibilities often associated with permanent posts
The timetable and subject focus can be adapted depending on experience.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Is passionate about supporting students with special educational needs
Is confident adapting teaching approaches for diverse learning profiles
Works well within a collaborative team environment
Has SEN experience (preferred but not essential)
This position would particularly suit:
ECTs seeking experience in specialist education
Experienced teachers wanting a flexible role or reduced workload
Teachers considering a move into SEN or specialist provision
