We’re recruiting a fixed‑term role, up to 2 years, for somebody with experience of working in or regulating energy sectors, which includes various scales of combustion plant, waste incineration and refineries.
Responsibilities
* Provide expert support and technical leadership through advice, guidance, and training
* Develop strategy for our sectors and produce the tools to regulate, support development and deliver environmental outcomes
* Commission and manage external research projects where needed
* Work with internal and external stakeholders such as Defra, DESNZ, internal operations teams, trade associations and other key industry players
* Respond to incidents and provide business continuity support during an incident, including having an incident role and making yourself available to respond to incidents
The Team
The Energy & COMAH team are part of Energy and Manufacturing Industries Regulation of Environment & Business (E&B) Directorate. Our technical experts lead on the definition of standards for our sectors, providing strategic direction, tools in support regulation of the energy sectors, guidance and training to deliver new duties, and environmental best practice.
Experience / Skills Required
* Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures and actively encourage others to consider diversity issues in their work
* Relevant technical and regulatory knowledge, and experience of the work area for the role in question, gained either by working within and/or regulating relevant processes. This will include knowledge of control measures for emissions to air where relevant
* Ability to build and maintain good relationships with colleagues, operators, partner regulators, government, trade bodies and academia
* Work cooperatively as part of a team to achieve common goals
