Why Working in a Secondary AP Is Perfect for Clinical Psychology Aspirations
In an Alternative Provision, you’ll see first-hand how early experiences, attachment, and environment shape behaviour and wellbeing. You’ll work with pupils aged 11–16 who have often faced exclusion, trauma, or instability, and help them rebuild trust, resilience, and self-worth.
You’ll learn how therapeutic frameworks translate into real-world practice, from emotion coaching and restorative conversations to positive risk-taking and resilience-building. This direct, relational work provides the clinical insight, reflective experience, and emotional intelligence valued by postgraduate psychology and therapy training routes.
