Specialist Assessor / Specialist Apprenticeship Coach - Electrical Installation (Full time)
To support, coach, and assess apprentices working towards achieving an apprenticeship standard, ensuring they meet occupational standards, develop sufficient evidence to progress through gateway, and are fully prepared for the End Point Assessment.
Key Accountabilities
1. Plan effectively to deliver training and assessment for apprentices in the workplace, ensuring progress on assessment elements of specialist apprenticeship standards and supporting learners towards gateway.
2. Provide apprentices with training, coaching, and underpinning knowledge relevant to the apprenticeship standard to enable appropriate progress.
3. Act as an apprenticeship coach with a caseload of approximately 30-45 apprentices, to be agreed with the line manager.
4. Complete high-quality initial training plans with the apprentice and employer, including assessments, detailed training plans, start/end dates, and evidence of employer input.
5. Conduct regular workplace reviews with apprentices and employers, setting and reviewing SMART targets, documenting progress, and discussing additional learning needs.
6. Ensure apprentices record sufficient off-the-job training, liaising with college and employers to support catch-up plans if needed.
7. Attend departmental meetings to report on responsibilities and support accurate tracking.
8. Work with apprentices and employers to address delays and ensure timely progress.
9. Agree end dates with programme leaders and employers, ensuring minimum durations are met.
10. Manage responsibilities to ensure achievement within planned timelines, aiming for above national achievement averages.
11. Collaborate with Business Development to assess new employers' ability to meet evidence requirements.
12. Maintain college H&S and ELI records, conducting workplace assessments and following up on documentation.
13. Support apprentices in portfolio preparation for gateway requirements where applicable.
14. Contribute to continuous quality improvement in apprenticeship activities.
15. Participate in standardisation meetings, IQA/EQA activities, and share best practices.
16. Report absences promptly, ensuring apprentice safety.
17. Sign off apprentices for gateway readiness in collaboration with apprentices and employers.
18. Build positive relationships with employers, promoting further educational and employment opportunities.
19. Maintain an accurate appointments diary and manage holiday schedules to ensure ongoing support.
20. Provide ad hoc cover for classes as needed.
21. Support college policies, procedures, and quality assurance systems, adhering to health and safety policies.
22. Participate in college events, staff development, and mentoring activities.
23. Perform other duties as required by the Principal and Chief Executive.
