Join to apply for the Charge Nurse role at NHS Borders. Hay Lodge Community Hospital is a nurse-led unit providing a 24-hour inpatient service predominately for older people. We offer rehabilitation, palliative and end-of-life care for people in the local community.
Responsibilities
* Be a motivated and adaptable member of a friendly, supportive team with an ethos of continuous improvement.
* Lead and supervise registered and unregistered staff, as well as student nurses; motivate and inspire the nursing team to continuously deliver high-quality person-centred care; lead by example.
* Be a confident decision maker who can work without direct supervision and coordinate with the Senior Charge Nurse to ensure the safe and effective running of the ward on a day-to-day basis.
* Supervise and support the delivery of care, and work with other health professionals to coordinate complex discharges with patients and families.
* Be flexible to work days or nights to meet the needs of a 24/7 service.
Qualifications and requirements
* Full UK NMC registration.
* Ability to work in the United Kingdom and demonstrate entitlement to work in the country (visa/sponsorship considerations may apply).
* Awareness of safeguarding and PVG checks; be prepared to complete pre-employment checks as required.

Additional information
In line with current legislation, there may be changes to criminal records checks and to PVG requirements. If the post is assessed as a regulated role, appointment will be subject to PVG membership. For more details, see GOV.UK and relevant NHS Scotland guidance.
