Role Overview
TEXO Recruitment is working with our client to recruit an Electrical / Electronic Technician to support their specialist equipment rebuild and field support operations. The position is mainly workshop-based in Aberdeen, with periodic offshore and rig assignments, plus occasional international travel for installation, commissioning, and service work.
This is a practical, hands-on role focused on electrical, electronic, and instrumentation systems associated with complex industrial equipment. You'll be involved in build, upgrade, fault-finding, and commissioning tasks, ensuring systems are installed and maintained to required technical and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out installation and commissioning of PLC-driven control systems on specialist equipment
Set up, test, and calibrate instrumentation such as sensors, transmitters, and flow measurement devices
Complete electrical and instrumentation installation work across workshop and field scopes
Diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical, electronic, and control systems both on-site and offshore when required
Perform hazardous area inspections in line with certification and regulatory requirements
Fault-find across electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanically integrated systems
Read and interpret wiring schematics, termination details, loop drawings, and fluid power diagrams
Work safely with low and high voltage single-phase and three-phase systems, applying correct isolation procedures
Troubleshoot PLCs, drives, and automated control assemblies in operational environments (experience with drive systems is an advantage)
Follow and promote safe working practices and environmental compliance at all times
Support work scopes across workshop, offshore, quayside, and project locations, including overseas assignments where needed
Complete service reports, test records, and technical documentation accurately
Assist with identifying replacement components and sourcing parts when required
Education & Experience
Formal training in electrical or electronic engineering through vocational qualification or technical diploma (or equivalent experience)
Several years' practical experience in an electrical, electronic, or instrumentation role — broader experience welcomed
Valid CompEx certification (EX01–EX04) is required
Awareness of hazardous area standards and compliance frameworks such as ATEX or IECEx is beneficial
Experience using diagnostic and configuration software for control and instrumentation systems is advantageous
Desirable Experience
Forklift certification
Experience with rigging and lifting operations

Comfortable using standard IT and reporting tools
Able to produce clear technical notes and job reports
Capable of testing and verifying industrial equipment performance
Strong practical fault-finding mindset
Works well both independently and within a team setting
