Your New Role
As a Year 6 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and staff to help deliver engaging and age-appropriate activities. You will assist with literacy, numeracy, SATs preparation, and topic-based learning, supporting children’s academic and social development. You may work with small groups or provide 1:1 support where required, helping to create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment. Your role will be vital in encouraging positive behaviour and fostering confidence as pupils prepare for their transition to secondary school.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
To succeed in this role, you will need previous experience working with upper Key Stage 2 children, ideally within a school setting. You should have a caring, patient, and proactive approach, with a strong understanding of child development. Confidence in supporting children of varying abilities, including those with additional needs, is important. Strongmunication skills, flexibility, and a genuine passion for education will help you thrive in this rewarding position.
