We are a small, dynamic company with a family feel and are excited to be recruiting two new sonographers to join our friendly and well-supported ultrasound team. We run clinics across Cornwall, Devon, Avon & Somerset, and West Midlands, focusing on excellent and compassionate patient care.

We are an award-winning company partnering with NHS Trusts to provide flexible services that allow patients to choose their preferred time and place, with a focus on reducing waiting times.


Main duties of the job

Candidates must hold either the DMU or PgCert/Dip/MSc in Medical Ultrasound and HCPC (or other professional body) registration.

The role involves performing a range of Non-Obstetric ultrasound examinations, primarily Gynaecological and General Abdominal, with growing services in musculoskeletal and vascular areas.

Applicants should be flexible, adaptable, and committed to delivering safe, compassionate patient care. Enthusiasm for learning, sharing skills, and supporting colleagues and students is essential.

Must have a driving license and be willing to travel to community locations; travel expenses are paid from an agreed base clinic.

Job responsibilities

Key responsibilities

* Provide high standards of ultrasound examinations as per service quality requirements.
* Ensure prompt examinations and minimal patient delay.
* Assist colleagues to maintain service provision.
* Carry out quality control tests and report malfunctions.
* Prioritize patient welfare and comfort.
* Maintain professionalism, appearance, and uphold the company’s reputation.
* Adhere to policies, attend relevant training, and report equipment issues.
* Support safeguarding, health and safety, infection control, and data protection policies.
* Support training and development of junior staff.

Clinical responsibilities

* Be professionally responsible and accountable for clinical work.
* Maintain high standards of clinical care and support team members.
* Perform complex investigations using advanced skills and protocols.
* Assess capacity, obtain informed consent, and formulate investigations based on evidence-based practice.
* Implement new techniques, manage clinical risk, and produce accurate reports.
* Report unexpected findings promptly and participate in audit activities.
* Promote patient rights and confidentiality.

Team responsibilities include maintaining a safe work environment, ensuring equipment functionality, and managing supplies. Knowledge of computer systems for reporting is required.


Education and Qualifications

* UK registered sonographer with a diploma or equivalent in Ultrasound and HCPC registration.
* Evidence of CPD and English language proficiency as required.


Working conditions

Physical demands: May involve long hours and sitting at computers.

Environmental conditions: Busy, noisy, requiring excellent organizational skills.

Mental demands: Managing multiple requests and emergencies.


Other considerations

Maintain confidentiality, adhere to data protection laws, and observe health and safety policies. The post may require working at various locations, supporting equality and diversity, and participating in personal development activities.


Person Specification


Qualifications

* Diploma or BSc in Radiography or equivalent, HCPC registration, Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound, and MSK qualification.


Experience

* Broad medical imaging background with specialist ultrasound knowledge, CPD portfolio, and experience with static and portable equipment.
