Offer description

We have vacancies for two Assistant Psychologists. These roles are to replace a current postholder and to help us build additional capacity.

Please note that we can only accept applications from candidates able to start the role quickly. We cannot, unfortunately, accept applications from candidates working overseas, or those who would need to relocate for the post.

Help for Psychology is a provider of NHS Right to Choose assessments for autism and ADHD, commissioned by Norfolk and Suffolk ICB.

It is an interesting and varied role, offering clinical support to the multi-disciplinary group of clinicians (psychiatrists, paediatrician, clinical and educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and neurodevelopmental specialists) carrying out assessments for autism and ADHD in our dedicated clinic in Old Catton, Norwich.

The post holder will be offered full support and training in the administration of various assessment tools and will have the opportunity to contribute fully to multi-disciplinary team discussions.

The role provides an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic psychology graduate to gain valuable clinical experience within a supportive and friendly team.

Main duties of the job

Although this role is offered on an initial twelve month contract, there may be the opportunity to extend this period, receive additional training and undertake a wider range of clinical activities.

Initially the role will involve administering a variety of standardised assessments and conducting in-person observation sessions with children and young people, that contribute towards an autism or ADHD assessment. This will also involve scoring assessments and adding findings to a joint report. Assistant Psychologists take on a valuable role within the multi-disciplinary assessment process and are included in case discussions.

There is also the opportunity to undertake, under supervision from qualified clinical psychologists, psychoeducation work with families. Assistant Psychologists also have the opportunity to engage in reflective practice and CPD sessions

We are always happy to support training, if this is likely to be of benefit to the organisation and, there are opportunities to contribute to ongoing research activities.
