Forensic science is used to support the investigation of crime. It can be used to provide evidence to support or refute an allegation, a version of events, and a person's involvement in an offence. The Forensics Department is committed to providing quality, objective, timely and effective forensic services to inform investigations, identify offenders, safeguard victims and witnesses, and streamline justice through good and early case management.

About The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Drug Liaison Officer within the Forensic Case Management Unit.
The purpose of this role is to prepare written expert evidence statements relating to controlled drugs, and to present such evidence in court when required. The post‑holder will conduct peer reviews of colleagues' work and critically evaluate statements produced by independent drug expert witnesses instructed on behalf of the defence.
The individual must possess comprehensive knowledge of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA), the Criminal Procedure Rules, and Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) Guidance on Expert Evidence. They will also be responsible for providing specialist advice to police officers in connection with drug‑related investigations.
