GTS Space are working with an advanced technology company developing a new generation of low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites to make global connectivity more accessible, secure, and sustainable.
They are seeking a Lead Electronics Design Engineer to drive the development, testing, and delivery of high-reliability electronic hardware and FPGA firmware for next-generation satellite systems. You’ll lead a talented, cross-functional engineering team across the UK and Europe, ensuring technical excellence, efficient development, and seamless integration from design to deployment.
What You’ll Do
* Lead and mentor a team of 5+ electrical engineers through all phases of product development.
* Oversee end-to-end design of satellite hardware — from requirements definition and simulation to test and delivery.
* Coordinate across multidisciplinary teams and suppliers to ensure successful integration.
* Plan and track engineering activities, ensuring delivery of high-quality, flight-ready products.
* Establish and refine engineering standards and best practices for reliability, performance, and efficiency.
* Contribute directly to design reviews, troubleshooting, and hands-on technical work when needed.
* Support team growth and development through mentorship and structured feedback.
What You Bring
* 5+ years of engineering leadership experience managing technical teams.
* 10+ years of electronics design, test, and delivery experience in aerospace or other high-reliability applications.
* Deep expertise in power, digital, and analog circuit design, simulation, and analysis.
* Strong understanding of high-reliability development, validation, and test practices.
* Proven ability to deliver flight-ready or production-grade electronic systems.
Bonus Points
* Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or equivalent).
* Experience designing and testing for space or harsh environments.
* Knowledge of RF design, FPGA development, or Altium Designer.
* Familiarity with EMC, environmental testing, and export control requirements.
